I started my career with Galpins in mid 2007 part way through my final year at Flinders University. In the local paper I saw an advert for a local accounting firm looking for a third-year university student to work part time in Stirling. After my interview I instantly knew that was where I wanted to work. It just fit! I remained in the Stirling office for about two years splitting between tax and audit work. As the audit work increased and our team grew, I relocated to our Norwood office and have worked solely on audit and advisory work ever since.
I live in Hahndorf with my husband and three young boys. My husband is in the Army at Woodside which has meant that we have been posted interstate two times in the past ten years. We lived in NSW for two years and Victoria for three. During our interstate postings I remained working for Galpins remotely. I was quite a pioneer of ‘working from home’ which we’ve all become accustomed to in the past couple of years.
I enjoy working in audit because the variety of work is so broad. One day you might work on a local sporting club and then the next day a state government department. You get exposure to different types of businesses and people which really keeps things interesting. In my new role as Partner I’m really looking forward to getting to know even more clients.
I love being part of the Galpins team and am so grateful for the opportunity to work here. Getting to work alongside great friends each day is such a blessing. I’m looking forward to continuing to build a strong team and culture within the firm.
I work our Norwood office and joined in 2013, after returning to Adelaide from Canberra. In Canberra I worked in the Australian Government (the Australian National Audit Office and even a stint in Parliament House) before moving to consulting. On coming back to Adelaide I really wanted to work in a place with a great culture and with people that I would enjoy seeing every day. I’m really glad of my choice! I love being a part of this dynamic and positive team, working on making a positive difference for our clients.
I provide advisory services and focus on helping clients to achieve strategic goals, to cut through the everyday noise to prioritise effort in the areas that matter most. I also help to manage the problems (risks) that can prevent success. For example, meeting and streamlining complex legislative requirements, reviewing structures and work processes for efficiency and also effectiveness. If you have a problem or risk that is worrying you, I can review and help to give assurance and ideas for improvement.
I work the equivalent of 4 days/week over 5 days and have two primary school-aged children. I enjoy being there for the school drop and some school pickups. I think it’s important to be able to balance work and family life, and value Galpins as a place that enables this. I love spending time with my family, getting into the outdoors and trying food of all cuisines with friends. I’m excited about this new role with Galpins and look forward to what the future holds for our clients and team.
